About this app

The intention of this app is to provide extra fun with all your Units across different unique environments.

All the magic this app creates is possible through a wireless bluetooth connection.

The LaCantina app creates a set of custom bluetooth commands to bring all your droids to life, those commands are captured and interpreted by every Unit, which then converts them into a direct action which it executes.

Short Description

LaCantina is an app that uses your computer's Bluetooth hardware and connects simultaneously to diverse kinds of toys, making them interact with the environment and with each other.
It is also capable of communicating with Hasbro Furby Boom toys, sending ultrasonic frequency sound messages through the PC's speakers, which is why it is important to keep our computer's volume up or transmit the audio to a Bluetooth speaker near to them for a better result. The app works as a DOS game, with no more graphics than ascii characters that simulate a bar with sounds, effects and music.

[ESC]: Exit & Terminate

This key can be used to respond with a negative answer, to terminate an action, or to leave a place.

[F1]: The app help

The Help information is distributed in two pages that we can navigate, by pressing the [Page Up] and [Page Down] keys. The first page is for general features, page two is for secret features.

[END]: The game goals

Displays a check list of the things we should accomplish during the game.

[F5]: The Visitor's List

This is an especially important screen because it displays:

All connected toys.
The status of the doors (Open/Closed).
An order position number (1~9), that can be used to manually identify or interact with the toy.
A unique toy six digits identification number that can be used in the blacklist and in the whitelist.

[+/-]: Music volume (5%)

Change ±5% the volume of the music.

[Alt+(+/-)]: Music volume (1%)

Change ±1% the volume of the music.

[Shift+(+/-)]: Music, SoundFx & Crowd volume (5%)

Change ±5% the volume of the music, of the effects and crowd sounds.

Mute/Unmute the background crowd noises.

Main Rooms

[Spacebar]: The Bartender

This is the place where we can invite our droids for a drink, but that is not all. There is a locked door we must find out how to open it.

[F2]: Secret Stakes

This is the room where we not only can play Blackjack game and win credits, but droids will also be telling us robot jokes and if we win three times, the dealer will reveal a new secret.

[F3]: Art Gallery

It is a museum that contains the most famous SW Ascii Art of all time. Discover how to add or remove new arts in the Secret Stakes

[F4]: Starlight Theater

Located on the roof, it is the only place where we can see our droids, interacting with the most famous ascii movie. The app will add sounds, music, and colors to improve the experience.

[F9]: Reception & Holidays

Use this key to switch between the Reception, the Christmas, and the Halloween rooms. Droids will react differently in every environment.

Movie Controls

[Esc]: Exit

Stops the movie, saves the move position, and exits the theater.

[Spacebar]: Movie Pause

Pause or resume the movie.

[+/-]: Movie volume

Change ±5% the volume of the music.

[Alt+(+/-)]: Movie volume

Change ±1% the volume of the music.

[←/→]: Skip Frames

The left arrow jumps twenty frames backward, while the right arrow skips twenty frames forward.

[Page Up/Page Down]: Skip Frames

The [Page Up] key jumps fifty frames backward, while [Page Down] skips fifty frames forward.

[Home]: Jump to Movie First Frames

Goes to the first frame of the movie.

[End]: Jump to Movie Last Frames

Jumps to the last frames of the movie.

Hidden Places

[]: Power Sanctuary

This is the place where we can buy any membership and the map of the place. Evey time we start the app, is a new day for LaCantina and with it, new discounts might appear.

[]: Basement Chamber

Located in the lowest level of LaCantina, this "Black Market" is the place where we can get extra credits for trivia accomplished missions. The good news is that we never lose credits in this place.

[]: Training Room

Hidden behind a backdoor, this room offers trivia training with missions related only to toys. We will not win any credits in this place, but we will get the answer if we fail.

[]: Metal Wars Circuit (Droid Races)

Based on our selection, we will have two options to win and one to lose credits

[]: Hidden Compartments

There is a hidden compartment in each of the Reception areas. Each of the compartments contains a sacred parchment that reveals new secrets.

Hidden Features

[F6]: Controls the Doors

LaCantina starts with doors opened by default. Close them to prevent new visitors (connections) and open them again to receive new visitors.

[Spacebar]: Freeze Mode

When we activate this mode, droids will stop movements and sounds, allowing only light effect reactions.

[]: Droid's Head Dance

All the droids start to move their heads synchronically

[]: Orchestra Droid Director

This works like the "Droid's Head Dance" option but required the Hasbro R2-D2 to reproduce its internal melodies.

[Shift+Enter]: Furby Transformation

Emits an ultra high frequency sound that Furby Booms can hear and adopt a different personality.

[Ctrl+F1]: Guest Book file

This is a book in which droids write their information when they have been staying at LaCantina.

Name: This name that the Visitor's List page will display for the connected droid
ID: Unique droid identification number.
DVV: Droid Verification Value. This value can be used in the Whitelist/Blacklist to provide/reject the access of the droid.
Company: Name of the company that sells or builds the toy.

[Ctrl+F3]: Gallery Art file

Opens the gallery art file for edition.

[F7]: Whitelist file

Opens the Whitelist file for edition.

[Ctrl+F7]: Blacklist file

Opens the Blacklist file for edition.

[Ctrl+F1]: App Configuration

Provides access to the customized options within the app.

StartUp: Initialization section

AlwaysShowBleInfo: Always displays Bluetooth information.
SkipPresentation: Skips presentation at start up.
MaxConnections: Maximum simultaneous connections. The calculates the first time the app runs.
StartWithDoorsClosed: Starts with doors closed.
StartOnFreezeMode: Starts with Freeze Mode activated.
ReactionsInterval: How often droids will react (value in milliseconds).
DroidJokesTimeOut: How often the droid will be telling a joke while playing cards (value in seconds).

CustomBehaviours: Droids behavior section

KeepQuietWhileAlone: The droid will not emit any sound it is alone in the bar.
ActivelyWorking: Reenforce the activity of droids.
DisableBDLegsMovement: Disable BD-1 legs motion.
AudioActivityDelay: Minimum time to wait before the droid emits another sound (delay value in milliseconds).

Mute: Mute sounds section

AppFx: App sound effects.
Music: Background music tracks.
Crowd: Talking crowd noises.
SoundFx: Game sound effects.
Droids: Droid sounds.

FurbyBoom: Furby Boom section

Enable: Enables/Disables sonic communications with Furby Booms.
AmplifySignalRate: Communication sound signal amplification rate (1~2).

Movie: Movie section

Source: Movie source location.
Position: Last played position.
SpeedOffset: Movie speed offset in milliseconds.

-1: Default
< 0: Slower
= 0: Normal
> 0: Fastest

[Shift+F1]: Configuration Folder

This folder will have all the configuration files.

whitelist.txt: Add to this list the DVV of the droid we will allow within the bar. This list invalidates the Blacklist.
blacklist.txt: Add to this list the DDV of the droid we do not want within the bar.
galery.art: Contains all the ascii arts we display in the museum.
startup.json: The initialization file.
dmodel.json: The guest book.

There are other kinds of files we can create if we want to customize our music. The following files can accept mp3 audio files from local or remote sources.

music_DefaultAudio.json: If this file exists, LaCantina will use it to play the default music in the Reception. Check the file format or download this "example" to see how it works.
music_ChristmasAudio.json: If this file exists, LaCantina will use it to play the music in the Christmas room.
music_HalloweenAudio.json: If this file exists, LaCantina will use it to play the music in the Halloween room.

Cheat Codes

[ResetMe]: Resets the Game

This cheat code will reset the entire game and we will lose any progress.

[FactoryReset]: Resets the App

This cheat code will reset the entire app including changes in the configuration files. The app will restart automatically to read the new configuration options.

Receive a small number of credits.

[]: The Christmas Room

This hidden cheat code will provide free access to the Christmas room.

[]: The Halloween Room

This hidden cheat code will provide free access to the Halloween room.

[]: The Map

This hidden cheat code will unlock the access to the map, without the need to purchase it.

[]: The Master Key

It provides access to complete all the tasks and reveals the rewards for accomplishing all of them.

Like the ENTER key, it can be used to confirm an option or to change the music while we are in the lobby.

Like the ESCAPE key, it can be used to reject or cancel an option. It can also be used to exit.

Displays the help. In this screen we can:
